logo design

Our official logo designed by Chris Reid of the Reid Cottage captures so many aspects of our beloved Long Point. We thought you might like to read the inspiration behind this design in the words of the designer himself.

  • I felt the loon had to be part of the design as it is the most recurring symbol for Long Point.

  • Under the loon are two waves that represent the two sides of the point on the lake.

  • Above the loon is a triangle with three trees.  The triangle represents the shape of Long Point.

  • The three trees represent the three main roads in which cottages sit on the point - Maple Ave, Ridge Dr, Cedar Ave (two of the roads have tree names which is a loose connection as well).

  • The oval is a shape that represents unity, wholeness, infinity and is an organic shape found in nature (certain leaves, fruit etc).  The oval also makes the design more of a seal than a logo - It would work as a stamp to authenticate documents, etc.
