Corn Roast Recap
Thank you to everyone who came out to the 2025 Corn Roast and Wine Survivor Finale on Saturday, August 31st! Once again many volunteers helped to make this an event that epitomizes our Long Point community.
If you're interested in volunteering to help ensure this event continues in 2026, please contact Gary Crawford.
Wine Survivor Winners
The Wine Survivor game was once again a huge fundraising success for Long Point.
In case you missed it, the winners of Wine Survivor this year were:
Third place, AND SECOND PLACE, winner of 9 and 13 bottles of wine (22 in total!) went to Louise Davison!
And the Sole Survivor and also a winner of 22 bottles of wine was Bryan L'Esperance!
Congratulations to the winners!
Cory would like to thank all of the helping hands, all the wonderful personal notes received and all of this year’s participants which make this game so much fun to host and run.
We are still looking for someone to take over this role for next year so that we can keep the fun going! If you are interested in getting involved, please reach out to Cory Lamothe.
Community Brush Cleanup
The Centrelands on Maple Avenue towards the point were particularly hard hit by the ice storm. Several residents have cleared it from the forks up to the first path across to Ridge Road. However, there is still a significant amount of debris on the ground. The second path is inaccessible and there are many uprooted and leaning trees.
A Long Point community cleanup is scheduled for this coming Tuesday, September 9th at 9:30 a.m. to tackle this area and take a few trailer loads to our newly opened Brush Pit. If you are able to assist, please contact Graham Tough. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!
FOCA Elert
For the latest edition of the FOCA Elert, please click here.
If you are interested, FOCA is offering a Fall Seminar called Passing the Torch: Generational Action for Climate on Saturday, September 20th, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to noon by Zoom. Registration is open until September 19th through the link or on their website.
I think I speak for everyone in thanking the organizers of the Corn Roast and the Wine Survivor. These events truly bring our community together and are a wonderful way to finish the summer on a high note.
Wishing you all a great fall—please watch for the Chair’s Fall Newsletter in the coming month!
